Drink Up

Liberty Bottleworks - Telemark Skier Magazine

I'm always down for tinkering with new toys. It reminds me of being a kid again. The one difference is that I've learned not to take complex things apart, since I'm not blessed with the abilities of reconstruction.

Lucky for me this new Liberty Bottleworks drinking vessel only has two parts, the bottle and the top. Both of which I've been able to handle so far. The top isn't threaded, like similar bottles, and utilizes a quarter-turn clicking mechanism to hold it on. Surprisingly it doesn't fall off when getting knocked around and is much faster to put on than a traditionally threaded top.

There normally wouldn't be much to write about a water bottle other than does it holds water? Does it hold wine? And is it going to spill in my backpack when I'm hiking or at a concert? On the contrary this little eye - catching art piece is far from the hippy-era bota bag and actually has earned some style points in my book.

I'm a fan of art, so I was immediately drawn to the graphic-covered aluminum. My bottle is a painted aerial map of Mt. Rainier, which constantly sent me on educational exploration of the mountain between sips. Apparently Liberty seeks out artists from around the US for their art needs instead of sourcing from in-house. Although they haven't connected with any Telemark skiers/artists, they have done a series with well-known Alpine shredstress Lynsey Dyer. Proceeds from Lynsey's Collection supports the non-profit she helped start, SheJumps.org, encouraging women to become more active in the outdoors. I dig their concept of mixing art, function and a cause.

Cool Facts:

  • Completely Recyclable
  • The only American made 100% recycled aluminum bottle
  • Deep drawn aluminum construction - less dents & greater durability
